The Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade has shed more light on the case of the Fibiwoga Family and as to why they were not the rightful owner of the 350 acres of land in dispute with the government.
According to the commissioner, “Initially the Fibiwoga Family received a judgment from the customary court and they came to the Ministry of Justice to lay contrasting claims that the other family is trespassing on their land, I invited both sides and they presented their survey for proper investigation at the bureau of land and when the report came it shows that government land is part of 350 acres Fibiwoga family is claiming, so I told them this is not only about the other party it also involves government and I will do anything to defend government property,“ he said.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the State , Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, made this known in an interview with Newsmen, warning the general public should to follow due diligence in land purchase in order not to lose their hard earned money to land grabbers.
He affirmed that steps were being taken to revert the judgment the Fibiwoga Family is laying claim to, adding that he was aware of legal action being taken by the family but said he had not received any letter and ready to give accurate justice without fear or intimidation, reassuring the general public of getting well deserved justice.
As a measure to curb the incessant cases of land grabbers in the State, the commissioner advised members of the public to investigate thoroughly before making payment for any landed property.
The Commissioner said despite land grabbing laws and committee setup by the government, the Ministry of Justice, had continue to face challenges on land grabbing, advising the public to seek professional advice when purchasing a land. He emphasised that, there were competent Estate practitioners and qualified lawyers among others as professional, people could engage before acquisition of any land, noting that there services would serve as a proper guide against several anomalies associated with land matters.
"The Ogun State Government is doing everything legally possible to ensure that cases of land grabbing is drastically reduced, if not completely nipped in the bud," he said.
The Commissioner pointed out that the taskforce saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that illegality of land acquisition was abated would stop at nothing to make anyone who constitutes nuisance face the full wrath of the law, saying no individual or group of person would be allowed to manipulate the State Judiciary system.
