Ogun State Ministry of Forestry has been given express order to address the issue of invasion of its forests by neighbouring states.
Applauding the Ministry for surpassing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for years 2023 and 2024, the Chairman, House Committee on Account and Anti-Corruption, Damilare Bello noted that the ministry need to sustain the feat.
Bello gave the commendation in Abeokuta, while addressing the management of the Ministry led by the Commissioner, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, before the committee for year 2023 statutory report of the State Auditor-General.
He urged the ministry to sustain the feat achieved on IGR for the overall development of the State and admonished the it to ensure speedy attention to issues of invasion and destruction of forests and its resources by invaders from neighbouring States.
He lauded the Ministry in the area of tree planting but advised the Ministry to ensure all operational vehicles of the Ministry were captured for insurance in the next year's budget, to forestall any eventuality.
Responding, Engr. Oludotun appreciated the Committee members for the invitation, saying, it would enable management of the Ministry clear grey areas in their revenue generation drive, noting that the invitation would further ensure proper co-ordination of all forest reserves in the State.
