Igbein Traditional Council Face off: Lukosi, others apologise

The Lukosi of Igbeinland,  Chief Dada Jesiliu has apologised to the Igbein Traditional Council over the internal face off beleaguering the leadership of Igbeinland.

Chief Jesiliu who admitted that the squabble could be resolved internally also noted that the authority of the leaders of Igbeinland in all matters concerning Igbein people is supreme and sacrosanct.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta during the week, the Lukosi affirmed the authority of Igbein Traditional Council on all issues relating to the growth and progress of Igbeinland, adding that the integrity of the council supercedes in all issues concerning Igbeinland.

Lukosi Igbeinland pleaded that the authorities and functions of the traditional council in Igbeinland must be protected by the chiefs if the rapid growth, peace and unity of Igbeinland is to be guaranteed.

Recounting the recent face off of the chiefs with the leadership of the traditional council in Igbeinland, Chief Jesiliu opined that such altercation was as a result of misunderstanding that existed between the traditional council and other  chiefs.

He said " though every institution has its own method of administering discipline to any of its erring members of which  Igbein Traditional Council is no exception".

"Even misunderstanding usually occur in the gathering of people, such misunderstanding has various method of settlement, according to different society, but in the concept of the Igbein,  once a decision had been taken by the majority of the house members, no chief dare kick against it," he added.

Chief Dada Jesiliu therefore, on behalf of other  Igbein chiefs: Idris Oyetunji, Mufutau Obayomi, Suraju Ayenreti  and Nurudeen Olowolagba who kicked against the decision of the Igbeinland Traditional Council tendered the unreserved apologies for their actions and inactions which has adversely affected the running of the administration of Igbeinland for the period of the face off assuring of robust relationship and collective collaboration at ensuring peace, unity and progress of Igbeinland henceforth.

Chief Jesiliu also withdrew forthwith the said affront to the council noting that it was due to ill conceived ideas of the old Ogboni System and appealed to the leadership of the council to temper justice with mercy while bearing in mind that they belong to the same traditional family called Igbein.
