2025: ADWF vows to redouble efforts in War Against Drug

The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation (ADWF), a non governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to fighting drug abuse and its menaces in the country has vowed to prove its mettle this 2025 in its efforts to make Nigeria drug free.

Making the vow recently at this new year edition of the Annual Stakeholders Appreciation Get-Together of the Foundation held at Abeokuta Chamber Of Commerce Hall, Abeokuta Ogun state, the President of ADWF, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab reiterated the NGO's commitment to creating a society free from the scourge of drug abuse.

"We will continue to work tirelessly, using evidence-based approaches and community-led initiatives, to promote positive behavioral change and support the well-being of our communities", Asiwaju Wahab asserted.

He noted that "in addition to our work on drug abuse prevention, we have also made significant strides in the area of gender-based violence prevention."

He pointed out that "through our initiatives, we have empowered women and girls, providing them with the support and resources necessary to live free from violence and abuse".

Evaluating the preceding years, the President of ADWF said "I am proud to report on the remarkable progress we have made in our efforts to prevent drug abuse and gender-based violence.

"Through our community-based approach, we have successfully engaged with local leaders, traditional institutions, and community members to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles.

"Our school-based approach has enabled us to reach thousands of students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about substance use. 

"We have also collaborated with religious leaders to integrate anti-drug abuse messages into their sermons and community programs.

"Furthermore, we have leveraged the influence of traditional institutions and peer pressure to promote positive behavioral change among young people. 

"Our initiatives have been met with remarkable success, and we are proud to say that our efforts have contributed significantly to the reduction of drug abuse cases in our communities", Asiwaju Wahab concluded.

He also pointed out that these achievements have not gone unnoticed; "We have received numerous national and international recognitions and awards, including accolades from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, Los Angeles, United States, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Economic,social and cultural council of the Africa ( ECOSOCC), Partnership to end addiction, International society of substance use professionals ( ISSUP), among others.

Asiwaju Wahab extended the Foundation's appreciation to institutions he described as partners which had stood by ADWF.

According to the President of ADWF, these include: Foundation for a Drug-Free World, NDLEA, EBUN ONLINE TELEVISION, Splash FM, Abeokuta, Sweet FM, Abeokuta, Tropic Reporters, Ogun State Television (OGTV), THE STATEPOST, and Fresh FM, Abeokuta. 

Asiwaju Wahab noted that their supports had been invaluable and the Foundation look forward to continuing the collaborative efforts in the years to come.

The President of ADWF chose the elegant occasion which was accompanied by lunch and merriments to announce Chief Lamidi Ibrahim Adetunji, Baale Asubiaro, Ilugun Township as a Royal Patron of the Foundation.

At the Get-Together, Asiwaju Wahab also gave letters of appreciation to about 20 deserving personalities and institutions for their supports for ADWF.
