Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State has reiterated his administration's prioritisation of community policing initiatives as a sure way of creating a safe environment in the state.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting, Governor Abiodun noted that his government is not oblivious of the safety concerns raised by citizens at previous town hall meetings.
He stressed his government's commitment to safety of lives and property and an all inclusive governance by listening to the voices and concerns of its citizens.
This was made known during the Egba Division Town Hall Meeting of the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and 2025 Budget, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, which wraps up the exercise.
The Governor represented by his Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, said “This final session is a culmination of our efforts to ensure that the voices of Ogun State residents are heard and reflected in our governance”.
Highlighting the importance of public participation in shaping the exercise, Governor Abiodun noted that the meetings allowed residents from the four zones, Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Egba, to engage directly with government officials, provide feedback on pressing local issues, while adding that the meeting in Egba served as a vital opportunity for community leaders and citizens to discuss their specific needs and aspirations towards the development of the state.
He stated that government’s focus on infrastructure was a direct response to community feedback, gathered during previous meetings, saying, “We understand that improved roads and essential services are crucial for economic growth and the well-being of our citizens. Over 600 kilometers of road work has already been completed, while others are underway across the state, with significant projects highlighted in Egba Division, including ongoing constructions”.
On his part, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, praised the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its commendable efforts in developments across the state, urging the administration to sustain the tempo, particularly in the area of road infrastructure.
In his remarks, the state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Oludaisi Elemide, commended the Executive arm of government for its inclusiveness and forthrightness in ensuring that development in different sectors of the economy cuts across all the regions of the state.
