In Ogun State, it will no longer be business as usual for land grabbers, popularly called Ajagungbale in Yoruba parlance or Omo Onile (i.e. son of the soil), natives who surreptitiously sell government's duly acquired lands back to unwary buyers.
To checkmate the unwholesome activities of these criminally minded set of people, Ogun State government has set up a special task force.
The State government has also warned the public to desist from selling government’s assets in the state to individuals or corporate bodies.
This was made known during a monitoring exercise at Sabo, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state, by the taskforce team of the Bureau of Lands and Survey, led by Esv. Fatai Adeboyejo.
Esv. Adeboyejo, decried the nefarious activities of encroachers, who were taking over some landed property acquired some years ago by government for public use,
He stressed that prospective land buyers should visit the office of the Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for enquiries and professional advice before purchase.
Also speaking, the Acting Surveyor-General in the Bureau. Surv. Oladele Ewulo, advised the public to always approach relevant government agencies for professional advice before committing their resources into illegal purchase of government land.
He added that the taskforce was set up to checkmate activities of land grabbers as proper documentation is germane to land purchase.
