Fellow Nigerians

As we gather today to commemorate Democracy Day, a day that symbolizes our collective struggle for freedom, justice, and the rule of law, I extend my heartfelt greetings to you all. June 12 holds a special place in our hearts as it marks the triumph of the people's will and the unwavering spirit of democracy in our beloved nation, Nigeria.

Today, we celebrate not only the historical significance of this day but also the resilience and determination of every Nigerian who has contributed to the growth and sustenance of our democracy. Our journey has been challenging, yet we stand tall, united by our shared values and aspirations for a better future.

As we reflect on our past achievements and look forward to the future, it is imperative that we address a pressing issue that threatens the very fabric of our society—the scourge of drug use among our youth. Our young people are the bedrock of our nation's future; they are the leaders, innovators, and visionaries who will carry forward the torch of democracy.

To our vibrant youth, I urge you to stay away from drugs. Substance abuse not only hampers your potential but also poses a grave threat to the stability and progress of our nation. Your health, your dreams, and your contributions are invaluable to Nigeria. Embrace healthy lifestyles, seek positive influences, and invest in your education and personal development. You are the future of Nigeria, and it is upon your shoulders that the sustainability of our democracy rests.

To parents, educators, community leaders, and all stakeholders, let us come together to support and guide our youth. Provide them with the tools, opportunities, and environments they need to thrive. Let us build a society where they can grow free from the dangers of drug abuse, equipped to lead and transform our nation.

On this Democracy Day, let us renew our commitment to the principles of democracy, justice, and unity. Let us pledge to nurture and protect the potential of our youth, ensuring they have the strength and wisdom to uphold the democratic values we cherish.

May God bless you all, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.

Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, Jp
