Ogun State is the number one in non-oil revenue generation for Nigeria and the largest of the revenue comes from a local government in the state, Ewekoro Local Government Area, as a result of its abundance of limestone, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has revealed.

The Governor disclosed that large quantities of limestone in Ewekoro Local Government Area is responsible for 36 percent out of the 38 percent contribution to revenue generation in the non-oil sector to the coffers of the Federal Government.

Abiodun made this known during the 20th coronation anniversary of Olu of Itoriland, Oba Abdul-Fatai Akamo, at palace of the monarch in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

He appreciated Itoriland for its contribution to making Ogun State the first in revenue generation from the non-oil revenue sector of the country.

"This town and this local government are very important to this state. This local government is one of the local governments that has put this state on the map. 

"Ogun State is the number one in non-oil revenue and the largest of that non-oil revenue comes from this local government because of the abundance of limestone here.

"Today, we are number one in non-oil revenue. Out of 38 percent that non-oil revenue contributes to the revenue of this country, Ogun State contributes 36 percent and Itoriland is a major contributor to that success" he explained.

The governor promised to rebuild the General Hospital in the town, to deliver dividends of democracy to the people in the area.

Abiodun, while describing Oba Akamo as a dependable and responsive monarch, hinted that he remained the stabilising factor among other monarchs in the state, acknowledging the development he had brought to the town and his people.

Earlier in his remarks, Oba Akamo thanked Governor Abiodun for his support to the town and its people, expressing gratitude for the transformation of Itori from its rustic past into a thriving town.
