Ogun State Police command has recorded its first incident of fatal accident in the Ember month yesterday, 1st of September 2023.
The terrible accident which involved three passengers on a motorcycle claimed one life and has evoked sympathy from shocked Commissioner of Police in the state, CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA who immediately appealed to commuters, motorist and Motorcyclist to exercise much caution especially at this period.
CP ALAMUTU warned that lives are worth more hence road users should stop endangering their lives, especially during this "Ember month".
The number one policeman in the state also called for maximum adherence to traffic rules and speed limit to avoid fatalities.
In a release by SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police Command, one Muyiwa Akinranti, a truck driver at KM39 Lagos Ibadan Express way, came to report the incident.
The truck driver said after offloading the goods in his truck, as he was driving his truck with registration number SYE 982XA from Lusada inward Igbesa at Gasline IGBESA , while preparing to turn towards Lusada at a turning lane, he noticed a vehicle approaching from Igbesa towards Lusada.
As he waited for the vehicle to pass, a reckless motorcycle rider, riding on top speed from Lusada collided with the left side of his truck.
He stated further that he got down to access the impact of the collusion but unfortunately, the collision resulted in serious injuries to the three occupants involved.
They were immediately rushed to St. Ann Hospital in Lusada, where Mr. Joshua Zossu "m" , the motorcycle rider, aged 35, was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The conditions of Mr. Yusuf Yinka and Mr. Moses Stephen, the other two passengers are reported to be responding to treatment by the doctor on duty.
The vehicle has been recovered for further inspection and the corpse released to the family of the deceased after presenting a sworn affidavit for withdrawal of the case.
The Commissioner of Police, CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA psc, has condole with the bereaved family while reminding Ogun State drivers and other road users to observe safety measures while on the highways.
