GAME OF THRONE! Barely a week after sack by Tribunal, Gov Adeleke pays Osun workers backlogs of gratuities owed by APC

                   Senator Adeleke

The bitter duel for the throne presently ongoing in Osun State between its two leading parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Party (APC) is playing out to be to the vantage of workers in the state as the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate cash backing of the year 2019 to 2022 promotion exercises of Civil Servants in Osun State.

Coming barely a week after the state Election Tribunal sacked him as governor and declared his predecessor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola as the rightful winner of the July 16 gubernatorial election held in the state, Senator Adeleke has ordered the payments of outstanding gratuities attached to promotions of civil servants between the year 2019 to 2022.

Governor Adeleke who has since protested the judgement ousting him as governor as partial and had proceeded to the Appeal Court to reclaim his mandate has also given several other orders that are of impactful consequences on the welfare of civil servants in Osun State.

These orders of the embattled governor, though interpreted by many as a populist move to curry the general acceptance of the people of the state included packages for active and retired workers in the state which were owed by his predecessor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.

In a letter signed by the Head of Service, K.N Akintola and copied to five Permanent Secretaries of three Ministries, Pension Board and Accountant-General, Governor Ademola Adeleke graciously approved the welfare packages from 2016 to 2022.

The letter stated that Senator Adeleke has also approved the immediate payment of arrears of half salaries for January, 2016.

The embattled governor equally approved subsequent payment of arrears of half salaries once in a quarter begining with the second quarter of the year 2023.

Governor Adeleke has also approved monthly payment of arrears of half salaries to Contributory Pensioners (State and Local) who have not received their bonds with effect from February, 2023.

He equally approved payment of four (4) months outstanding deductions (May and June 2019, February, 2020 and October, 2022) starting with immediate payment of May 2019 deduction and the other three (3) months deduction at once per quarter.
