The people of Igbore, Abeokuta have lauded the authorities of Abeokuta South Local Government and the Nigerian Police for their promptness in forestalling the recent attempt to forcefully install Chief Wole Odekunle as Olori Aje Igbore against superior advice from higher authorities.
The Concerned lgbore Citizens in Abeokuta South Local Government praised Abeokuta South LG and the Police for expediting actions to abort the violence that would have accompanied the forceful installation of
Chief Wole Odekunle as Olori Aje Igbore on Tuesday 13" December, 2022 in lle-Ogboni, Igbore, Abeokuta.
In a press release signed by Awaye Olusegun Adefunso and Alhaji Sulaiman Kazeem, the Chairman and General Secretary respectively of the Concerned lgbore Citizens, the group noted that despite a letter written by Abeokuta South Local Government to Oluwo Igbore, Chief Anthony Olaiwola Oliyide to desist from installing Chief Oluwole Odekunle as Olori Aje lgbore because the matter is 'Still
a matter of litigation in the Appeal Court Holden in Ibadan on Suit No.: CA/IB/93/2022"', and another case suit No.: AB/455/2022 in Ogun State High Court Holden in Abeokuta, Chief Oliyide still made attempts to confer the chieftainey title.
The Concerned Igbore Citizens noticed with dismay, the frantic efforts made by Chief Oliyide to perform the illegality and throw the community into violence and confusion if not for the prompt intervention of the Police.
The group pointed out that the Oluwo Igbore is very much aware that whosoever is the Olori Aje lgbore is automatically the Olori Parakoyi Egba in line with the
customs and traditions of lgbore and Egbaland and insists in causing confusion in the town.
It further pointed out that the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government had written to Oluwo Igbore asking him to "kindly adhere strictly to the directive" against the installation of the title, "in the interest of obedience to the rule of law and for peacetul co-existence of all the good people of lgbore township and Ogun State in general".
The Igbore citizens hereby urge the people of the community to remain peaceful and calm since the installation has been prevented by the good people of Igbore and the Nigerian Police.
The group also urged Oluwo Igbore to respect the rule of law and of course the customs and traditions of lgbore township.
