Ogun Amotekun nabbed 2 serial kidnappers

Ogun State Amotekun Corps have arrested two serial kidnappers, Ibrahim Babuga and Mohammed Abubakar, both 20 and 22 years of age, over the alleged abduction of a couple, Jimoh Tunde and Muinat Tunde at their residence at Oke-Aafin, Ibara Orile, Abeokuta .

The kidnapping gang which included two others, still at large were armed with guns and cutlasses as they invaded the house of their victims on the midnight of 17th November, 2022 and abducted them.

According to CP David Akinremi, the Ogun State AMOTEKUN CORPS COMMANDER, the kidnappers took the abducted couple into the bush, tied them to a mango tree and subjected to severe beating. 

They later demanded and received the sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N800,000.00) as ransom from the relatives of the victims before they were released.

The Corps Commander said, based on actionable intelligence by Amotekun operatives, the suspects were however arrested on their way from the point of collection of the ransom.

Two (2) of the four member gang escaped with the bulk of the ransom collected but a locally made gun, four cutlasses sticks and other dangerous weapons were later recovered from the bush where the victims were kept. 

Also recovered are an android handset belonging to the kidnapped woman, her necklace and the sum of Twenty Nine Thousand Naira (N29,000.00) being part of the shares given to them by the escaped leader of the gang to enjoy pending when the large chunk of the ransom will be shared at a designated point.

The two arrested suspects in the course of further investigation admitted their involvement in several other kidnapping incidents in Soyoye, Alamala, Ibara Orile and Olorunda axis of Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the State. A number of their victims have been contacted and they had identified the suspects.

CP David Akinremi assured that investigation is still on going with a view to apprehend the fleeing members of the criminal gang. 

He said the suspects would be charged for conspiracy, kidnapping and armed robbery in connection with the kidnap of a couple after police deligent investigation.
