Investigation into pilfering and stealing in the neighborhood has led men of Amotekun Corps to burst a gang of cemetery robbers who specializes in digging graves to steal skulls of corpses at Agunboye Burial Ground in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.
According to CP David Akinremi, the Ogun State Commander of ,AMOTEKUN CORPS, on the 4th of November, 2022, one Ibu Benjamin of Ayegbami Quarters, Agunboye Ijebu-Igbo reported a case of stealing at Amotekun office at Ijebu-Igbo.
Ibu Benjamin reported that, on the same date at about 0900 hours, he discovered that one heavy Iron Pallet valued at three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N350,000.00K), property of his landlady, Mrs. Idowu which is kept within the precincts of a fenced farm and a house yard at Agunboye was stolen by unknown person(s).
The Corps Commander said operatives of the Corps acted on the report as they embarked on intelligence activities with a view to getting those behind the crime.
He said "their efforts paid off on 20th November, 2022 with the arrest of two (2) suspects, BUSARI ALIU 33 years old AND ADETAYO SEGUN 34 years who not only admitted their involvement but led our operatives to recover the stolen item where it was kept".
CP David Akinremi said further search of the house and premises where the item was recovered also unearthed some pieces of Carbonated Human Skull.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to digging into so many graves in Agunboye Burial Ground to remove several skulls of buried corpses which they sold to some other members of their ritual gang.
The Corps Commander confirmed that the arrested suspects have all been transferred to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta for investigation and prosecution.
