The meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held in the State House Council Chambers in Abuja today had the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presiding in the absence of President Mohammadu Buhari who travelled to UK for routine medical check-up.
The council before commencement of its meeting held a moment of silence in memory of late Chief Mbazulike Amechi, who served as Nigeria's first Minister of Aviation.
He passed away on November 1, 2022 at the age of 92.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha announced the passing away of Amechi to the cabinet.
Niyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments; Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of the Interior; Sunday Dare, Minister of Sports and Youth Development; Adeleke Mamora, Minister of Science and Technology; and several other ministers were physically present at the meeting.
Other ministers that were present include the Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, and the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mahmood Abubakar.
Other minister also present included Mariam Katagum, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investments, as well as Ekumankama Nkama, the Minister of State for Health.
Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the President's Chief of Staff, was also present at the meeting.
