OGUN CELEBRATES WORLD TOURISM DAY

Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism will join the rest of the world to celebrate the 45th edition of World Tourism Day on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

This year's celebration themed “Rethinking Tourism” will be held at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10.00 am.

A statement by the recently appointed Commissioner in the Ministry,  Mrs Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo, revealed that the Governor, Prince Dapo will be the Chief Host, while stakeholders in the Tourism sector and the general public were expected to grace the occasion.

According to Adeleye-Oladapo, the occasion will feature paper presentations from veterans in the tourism industry, drama sketches by the State cultural troupe and dance performances by different cultural and drama groups.

The World Tourism Day was designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), to foster the awareness of tourism's social, cultural, political, and economic value, as well as its contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Mrs Adeleye-Oladapo said ‘’the theme for the year will showcase tourism's unique ability at ensuring that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future’’.
