Ogun begs LG staff to earn more IGR

In its efforts to make an impressive showing in its internally generated revenue, IGR following dwindling allocations from the Federal Government's coffers, Ogun State has enlisted even staffers of its local government's among its footsoldiers to earn more revenue.

The Chairman, Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Olivia Onabanjo has said staffers of every Local Government should be more productive and ensure an increase in council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)

Barr. Onabanjo stated this during a visit to Sagamu Local Government, restating the Commission’s commitment to the upliftment of council areas and staff welfare, among others towards enhancing service delivery at the grassroots.

She assured that the agency would look into some challenges confronting the staffers and proffer solutions to further ensure a conducive working environment, urging them to be more dedicated in the discharge of their duties and prudent in their spending to avoid financial embarrassment.

Speaking earlier, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Jimoh Safiriyu lauded the present administration for creating a worker-friendly environment, which had helped the council in various ways.

Responding, the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Comrade Dolapo Adunmo applauded the Chairman for the visit, urging the government to address shortage of staff to boost service delivery.

In a related development, Mrs. Onabanjo while addressing members of Community Development Associations in the council, commended them for their unflinching support to the ”Building our Future Together” agenda of the  Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration, saying the government would continue to encourage them in the provision of self-help projects, to enable the people enjoy more dividends of democracy.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Community Development Association, Sagamu zone, High Chief Adefemi Boyejo appreciated the government for the infrastructural development across the State, pledging their continued support to the State and Local governments.
