Hours into the Presidential Primary Election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), information reaching THE STATEPOST indicates that the party may after all go for a candidate of consensus as the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) some while ago met with all the Presidential aspirants of the party at the State House, Abuja.
Our source informed us further that President Buhari may likely choose a southern presidential aspirant as his choice candidate.
Buhari, who returned from an ECOWAS extraordinary summit hours ago met at least 23 recognised Presidential hopefuls.
They include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu, Governors Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Goodwill Akpabio, former transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, amongst others.
With barely 48 hours to the Presidential Primary Elections of the APC, the meeting among other things, centred on the choice of a consensus candidate.
It would recalled that the Screening Committee Chairman, Dr John Oyegun, on Friday informed journalists that 99 per cent of the presidential aspirants were in support of consensus.
