MAN TRAFFICS WIFE INTO PROSTITUTION, SELLS SON.

Kingsley Essien, 36 years old is now in police net in Ogun state for selling his wife to traffickers for prostitution at the rate of N1.4 million while he sold his 2 year old son for N600,000.

Acccording to a release signed by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Agbara Divisional Headquarters by the wife, Bright Essien, who reported that sometime in October 2021, her husband, Kingsley Essien, informed her that he had secured a job for her in Bamako Mali, assuring her that he had assisted many people to go to that country for greener pastures before.

She explained that she believed because he was her husband adding that she didn't suspect any foul play until she got to Mali only to discover that she had been sold to human trafficking cartel headed by a woman for One million four hundred thousand naira. 

While in Mali, she was forced into prostitution, but later found her way to Nigerian Embassy in Bamako where she was assisted back to Nigeria.

On getting to Nigeria, she discovered that her two year old son which she had left in the care of her husband was nowhere to be found.

Acting on the report, the DPO of Agbara Division, SP Abiodun Salau instructed his detectives to go after the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and he confessed further that he sold his two year old son to somebody at the rate of six hundred thousand naira.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He equally ordered that the buyer of the son must be traced and arrested in order to recover the sold child.
