IPOB MEMBERS CAN NO LONGER RUN TO ENGLAND IF PERSECUTED AT HOME, SAYS U.K

United Kingdom has reneged on his erstwhile promise to grant asylum to members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who want to seek refuge in England if they are persecuted at home.

The government of the United Kingdom made a U-turn on its treatment of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as it now recognised Nigeria’s classification of the group as a terrorist organisation. 

In a May 2022 update of its asylum policy, seen by The Cable, the United Kingdom government excluded members of the group from seeking refuge in England.

The Cable had reported in April 2021 that the United Kingdom was planning to grant asylum to persecuted members of the separatist group, as part of its refugee policy published at the time.
