Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, (TRACE) has informed the management of Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese of its observation that articulated vehicle drivers were reckless in driving, intimidating other road users due to the size of their vehicle.
Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer, TRACE, Commander Olaseni Ogunyemi made the observation while receiving the management of Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese in his office at Abeokuta recently.
In his words, Commander Ogunyemi noted that: "It has been observed that articulated vehicles drivers are reckless in driving. usually intimidate other road users basically because of the size of their vehicles and the insurance policy that their organisations have subscribed to, and this can be described as antisocial behaviour".
The Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer of TRACE therefore called on such drivers to desist from reckless driving and drinking of alcohol.
He urged the team to checkmate their drivers when driving, saying the Agency would not condone insanity and inhumane acts, as it would continue to intensify efforts in educating, training and retraining truck drivers towards reducing crashes on the roads.
Commander Ogunyemi assured that TRACE will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that road crashes were reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
Commander Ogunyemi said the agency was saddled with the responsibility of saving lives and property on the road, adding that effort would be intensified in ensuring this onerous task.
Responding on behalf of the management of Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese, Ogun State, Mr. Steven Asoji appreciated TRACE Corps for their commitment at ensuring that motorists obey the traffic laws and solicited the continued support of the agency.
The representatives of Dangote only thanked TRACE. They did address the issue raised by TRACE. One expected them to make a commitment.
