Oluomo Wants Gov. Abiodun To Meet Lawmakers' Needs

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has made a passionate plea to Governor Dapo Abiodun to enhance the performance of lawmakers in the state by giving them their dues.

Making the plea yesterday while responding to the speech of the governor at the presentation of his 2022 budget to the House, the speaker begged the governor to accord priority to the constituency allowance of lawmakers.

Hon. Oluomo told the governor that this would  enable lawmakers to contribute their quotas to the development of the state as they would be able to "develop the rural of the rural".

He noted that since the 2022 Appropriation Bill is christened " Budget of Restoration", the governor should endeavor to restore the honor and dignity of lawmakers too.

In the same vein, he begged Governor Abiodun to pay the Severance Allowance of the last set of lawmakers of the state so as to serve as impetus to the present ones so that "we will be able to do more".

In his own speech earlier, the governor thanked the State House of Assembly for its continued collaboration and cooperation within the ambits of the Separation of Powers and solicited for its unflinching support to enable the executive and the legislature collectively deliver on their promises in the coming year. 

"Let me re-emphasize that the people of Ogun State expect that the 2022 Budget will contain only implementable and critical projects, which when completed, will significantly address current structural challenges of the economy, improve the business environment and accelerate economic recovery.

"I have directed all Commissioners, Accounting Officers and Heads of Agencies to be personally available for budget defence", he said.

Abiodun also appreciated the Ogun people for the trust and confidence they have reposed in his administration noting that: "We appreciate the invaluable support, cooperation, and prayers of all stakeholders. Our gratitude goes to our political class; our revered Royal Fathers, Elder Statesmen, our Religious leaders, Development Partners, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Market Women and Men and indeed our Public Servants". 

"We also thank our critics. As our supporters continue to motivate us, our critics are also challenging us to do more. That is the whole essence of democracy. I thank all of us", Abiodun concluded.
