James Ndujekwu Ufondu is not given to thumping his chest to declare his calling at the slightest provocation as many of his ilk are wont to do. If you are not told, you may not quickly know that he is a pastor.
But Pastor James Ufondu is the General Overseer of the Eternal Hope Christian Mission a.k.a Holiness Evangelical and Deliverance Center at 18, Bello Street at Orile Iganmu, a bulbous outgrowth of Lagos Island.
By his self effacing demeanor, the easy going man of God may not even make anything of your mistaking him for just another man on the street as Pastor Ufondu is also very taciturn.
He would also wave away your gaffes without wasting much time since for this singular reason has he continued to refuse to go about with a large retinue so as not to be accused of flaunting his venerability.
Despite Pastor Ufondu's self effacement and down to earth humility which he claimed he had acquired through the harsh lessons taught him by the hard school of life, he remains a lion when it comes to the precepts of God.
The only time the Pastor raises his voice is when he preaches as he preaches the undiluted words of God and will not brook any infringement of it.
Pastor Ufondu confessed that he got his stern insistence on divine lifestyle and strict adherence to God's laws from a dream he once had of "The Rapture" which made him know for sure that man is in the last days as professed by the Lord Jesus Christ.
"Christ is coming sooner than we are thinking, man is just enjoying just a little more grace and that is why in all my teachings, I now vehemently preach 'The Rapture ", the pastor pointed out.
However, the comely and charismatic clergy who is still in his middle age seems to be cut out by God for a special purpose which is to start unfolding now as he told our correspondent "I am going to start talking now as the sent voice of God for this nation and the church".
In a chat with THE STATEPOST at his church premises recently, the man of God was affirmative that he has messages for this nation.
He admitted that there are many fake men of God in our society adding that many are even magicians in the garbs of pastors using magical seals to conjure and confuse the congregations.
Pastor Ufondu noted that it is however regrettable that these are the ''men of God'' that people flock to and that governments prefer to listen to.
He warned that governments should not rely on those he called " big man pastors " as they may not have any message adding that "they are mere empty drums making the proverbial loudest noise".
Asked to describe himself, the man of God said he is "a weeping prophet" as he weeps daily for the church and the nation "for we are all walking contrary to the will of God".
Pastor Ufondu said he is more sad for the church because "what its leaders now go after is filthy lucre by any means".
He said that this is turning the church to a white sepulchre as every dirt like corruption, bribery, fornications, rituals and all sorts of wickedness can now be found in the fold of God.
Taking a swipe at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and all other organizations of God, Pastor Ufondu said they have all failed as they are not vehement enough in their condemnation of these evils.
He also pointed out that Christian leaders have allowed pride, envy, injustice and caucuses within caucus, cliques and fictionalizations to erode the power in the message of God.
The Pastor who said he is now ready and prepared to talk constantly on national issues and matters concerning the church said that he prays daily to God to "use me as a voice and a militia to depopulate hell".
