Exasperated by the worsening spate of insecurity in Ijebu Ode, the Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Emilola Gazal is considering the revival of an erstwhile moribund vigilante outfit as a way to bolster security in the town.
Alhaji Gazal has pledged to resuscitate the local vigilante system to ensure adequate security of lives and property of the people.
Gazal bared his mind while addressing officers of the Ogun State Ministry of Information at the Local Government Secretariat after a meeting with security chiefs on ways to strengthen security architecture of the area.
He said there was a need to review the security situation in the town as his administration is determined to safeguard the people and their belongings.
"The security architecture can be improved upon a little bit. There used to be a vigilante system in this area which has gone moribund and we are trying to see what can be done to revive it. This will complement efforts of other security agencies", he stated.
