The Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi
Ogun State Government wants to partner with the Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC) in a bid to ensure affordable housing for all subscribers in the state by accessing a long-term loan at low interest rates.
The Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi made this request in Abeokuta yesterday during a courtesy visit by the management of the company, stating that provision of housing facility is a catalyst to economic development.
Jagunmolu noted that the government is committed to continually build houses until it gets to the reach of subscribers, adding that it had put up a dimensional approach to make houses accessible for its citizens.
‘’The present administration is partnering with the company, in order to place the subscribers who could not access loan elsewhere on a long-term loan through the company where they will enjoy low interest rates’’, the Commissioner said.
Speaking, the Managing Director, NMRC, Mr. Kehinde Ogundimu posited that affordable housing would continue to be a mirage until the housing sector gets massive investments.
While making a familiarisation tour to Kobape housing estate, Ogundimu expressed satisfaction at the construction process, noting that civil servants would be the ultimate beneficiaries of the premium.
