Ogun RTEAN celebrates Akibu's one year in office, launches membership card

The Ogun State chapter of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has began a week long festivities to celebrate one year in office of Oluomo Akibu Titilayo a.k.a Efele and his executives in office.

The celebration was flagged off on Monday at a well attended press conference held at RTEAN State Secretariat in Obantoko, Abeokuta.

The association's new membership card was also launched at the press conference with the State Chairman, Oluomo Titilayo and some members of his executives collecting their cards.

Speaking at the press conference, the State Secretary of the association, Chief Tiwalade  Akingbade noted despite the harsh conditionalities of the Covid-19 Pandemic which confronted the new RTEAN executives in office, they have given a good account of themselves.

He recalled that the executives came into office "exactly at the point lockdown was imposed" but thanked members of the association for believing in the new executives' capability to redirect the " wheels of RTEAN in Ogun State in a positive direction ".

The state Secretary noted that during the Pandemic, the association distributed 100,000 hand gloves, 50,000 medium sized bottles of hand sanitizers and 500 body temperature machines.

Chief Akingbade who listed some of the achievements of Efele within the one year in celebration also listed programs and projects in the pipeline that the new executives are planning.

According to him, activities lined up for the week long celebration include presentation of medical equipment to five state hospitals on Tuesday, visitation and presentation of gifts to motherless babies' home and correctional home on Wednesday.

Others are: meeting and special prayer at the Secretariat on Thursday and the opening of a new mosque at the state Secretariat on Friday with dinner and cutting of cake at Daktad Hotel after the Jumat Service.

Saturday is the grand finale and it would be held at Abeokuta Sports Club and a church service will round up the lined up activities on Sunday.

The association is expecting its National President, Alhaji Musa Muhammed in Abeokuta by Friday to grace the occasion and pay courtesy calls on the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the A lake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
