Ogun State Government in collaboration with a private company, Momas Metering School has begun to train unemployed youths in the state on how to install the new prepaid electricity meters.
The two weeks training is not only aimed at providing employments for these youths but to also ensure a seamless metering process that will allow customers to register and be metered the same day.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, Prince Lekan Olude made this known at his office in Abeokuta yesterday.
He explained that the training was for Bachelor of Science and Higher National Diploma holders in Electrical Engineering, selected from the State Jobs portal.
Prince Olude pointed out that the training would complement the Federal Government’s National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP), for distribution of six million free prepaid meters to the people, to ease estimated billings.
Olude said on completion, certificates would be awarded to participants and be provided with kits containing relevant tools for meter installation, while engaging them in the execution of the project.
