Covid-19: No third term for students in Oyo as govt releases new timetable





The third term of 2019/2020 session has been cancelled in Oyo State as promotion of students will now be determined by first and second term continuous assessment.

The state has approved an academic calendar to guide resumption of school's and other educational activities.


Primary 6, JSS3 and SS3 will now proceed on holiday from 30th of July and resume for examination as follows:

-Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE)- 10th to 18th of August 2020

-Competitive Entrance Examination in schools of science -19th August 2020

-Placement/screening to JSS1 -20th August 2020

-Placement test into technical colleges -28th of August

-SS3 will resume for their exam as soon as WAEC announces the date.


2020/21 academic session, according to the calendar approved by the state is as follows:
-First term -21st September to 18th December 2020
-Second term - 11th January to 9th April 2021 and,
-Third term - 3rd May to 30th July 2021

Meanwhile the state continued to maintain strict social distancing and all safety measures in schools among the students that have resumed.
In a related development, the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiubu said his ministry has met with WAEC and agreed to consult with four other countries to come up with a new date for WAEC examination.
