The Ogun State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)has invested a lot into police well-being during the Covid-19 total lockdown in the state, the Chairman, Ven. (Dr.) Samson Kunle Popoola has said.
Speaking to THE STATEPOST in his office at the Old Secretariat, Okelewo, Abeokuta recently, Ven Popoola noted that "in totality, we spent quite a tidy sum of money amounting to a few millions as palliatives for our police during the period".
He explained that " during the Covid-19 total lockdown, we came out on patrol to support our police"

"We went to the extent of cooking, we pack foods and take it to them at their respective checkpoints as nobody could provide for them at that period", he said.
Ven. Popoola said the PCRC invested on facemasks, sanitizers, temperature thermometers, blood pressure machines and other apparatus like hand washing buckets.
Explaining that the PCRC structure too aped that of the Nigerian Police, he noted that all its stations and outposts including the Area Commands, Divisions and the State Command invested a lot into palliatives for the police.
He pointed out that the organization continued to earn its relevance from helping the community to key into helping the police to help them.
Ven. Popoola stressed that " when you take care of the police, the police take care of you as you get the best of them ".
He said the PCRC has become sacrosanct to the police as it has become its support agency in finance, infrastructure and even in information and intelligence gathering.
The PCRC chairman said though the organization is a collection of people who have come together to voluntarily assist the police so that the society could get the best out of them but over time it has developed into a very important institution salient to nation's growth.
